VBS 2011   Leave a comment

We are grateful to the B. family who donated the $150 to make this year´s VBS possible–to buy supplies for the activities, crafts, prizes, and food. We spent another $150 on 12 sturdy plastic chairs for the elementary class (compare photos 4, 21) and a fan for the adolescent class.

Day 1: Honesty (Jesus demonstrates telling the truth))
Day 2: Friendship (Barnabas befriends Paul)
Day 3: Justice (Zacchaeus repays those from whom he stole)
Day 4: Goodness (the Good Samaritan helps the beat-up Jew)

Each day, about 80 kids met together for songs, games, and a puppet show, and then split into the 3 age-appropriate classes for the lesson (including memory verse, prayer, activity page, and craft) and snack.

Saturday, everyone stayed in the sanctuary for an overall review and prizes (photo 46 is Joela receiving her prize for being early every day—the kids said, “yeah, but she slept through each class!”). Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse came to ask the kids review questions; then they shared a meal together. It was a blessing and a lot of fun. 20 new kids attended. I especially enjoyed teaching the adolescent class, as I hadn´t spent time with those kids for several months.
