The Invasion   Leave a comment

Part 2: Sunday, May 16, after Club, Jon, Gary, Leslie, Josue, Carlos (a friend), Mama Luz, and I walked a few blocks from our house to the “Invasion,” where most of our Club children live. We wanted to visit several families´ homes.  It´s slums–blocks of shacks made of wood and metal sheets. These are the poorest of the poor. (Rafael, who was our night guard for several months, lives there–Gary and I are saluding with him in the picture–something Rafa and I started when he was working for us!)

In the afternoon, about 30 children came to play soccer and volleyball—we bought several balls so the kids can play in the afternoons. And, thanks to Jon, we taught them to play Ultimate Frisbee.
